Flower of the Day – 13th April 2023

The other day we popped to Great Dixter House and Gardens, we had hoped the tulips were in full bloom, but unfortunately, we were a little early for that. But I did manage to capture this beautiful daffodil, that summed up that spring was finally here… next step is summer.

Of course, I couldn’t help but put the daffodil through a painterly effect in Photoshop.

The delicate yellow petals of this flower are a perfect reminder of the bright and warm days to come. Daffodils, also known as Narcissus, are one of the most recognizable and beloved spring flowers. They bloom in a variety of colors, but the classic yellow daffodil is always a favorite.

The painterly effect has given the daffodil a dreamy and ethereal quality, enhancing its natural beauty. The soft brushstrokes and muted tones make this image feel like it belongs in a fairytale. It’s hard not to feel a sense of wonder and magic when looking at it.

As we move closer to summer, it’s important to remember to take a moment to appreciate the beauty of spring. The world around us is bursting with life and color, and it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life. So take a moment to stop and smell the daffodils, and let their gentle beauty remind you to slow down and enjoy the simple things.

If you would like to download the action set for Painterly then head on over to this Adobe Creative Cloud Page and download the action set. You can play around with the layers, add masking and remove borders etc.

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s Flower of the Day – who knows what beauty we’ll discover next?

          5. I have tried to use PS in the past, it’s just too confusing, Bren. In order to learn it properly, I would need to sit down with a seasoned user like you.
