Flower of the Day 27th Febaury 2023 – Dogwood

Here we are another week and a new Monday. We hope you all had a good weekend. Last week, I hosted the Lens-Artists Photography Challenge, and it was a real honour to do so. Thank you to all those who participated… and submitted your images and techniques to the challenge. A few techniques submitted for the challenge are things I am going to have to try out.

Today, I would like to share some knowledge about the flower of the day for February 27th, 2023 – Dogwood. The Dogwood (Cornus sanguinea) is a deciduous tree that grows up to 15 feet high (4.5 meters). It is native to Europe, including the UK, and can be found in hedgerows, woodland edges and gardens. It is a classic species of Cornaceae, as it is the only member of genus Cornus that has colourful flowers. The Dogwood flowers range from white to pink, and blooms in March, with fruits ripening in June or July.

Dogwood is renowned for its beauty, and the blooms represent innocence, love, and life. It is one of the best choices for a small garden, and the flowers are perfect for attracting wildlife, such as butterflies.

If you are looking for a way to brighten up your garden in the early Spring, or a beautiful addition to your outdoor decor, the Dogwood is definitely a great option. What a way to start the new gardening season!

  3. Wonderful post! I didn’t know the meanings people have assigned to this particular beauty of Nature. We had a beautiful dogwood growing in the garden of the home were my husband, children and I lived in years long passed. Thanks for the reminder. 🤗💕✨
