Mid- Week Monochrome #122

One man and his dog.

Things didn’t plan as we had hoped and sadly, I lost my MIL just a couple of weeks ago. Finding time to fit in MWM was just not to be… as I was travelling up and down visiting her. And my head just wasn’t even into picking up a camera yet alone doing a post.

Then last week one of our Ladies at Lunch gang passed away so quickly… I’m not superstitious normally, but those words, ‘It comes in threes,’ was going through my head. And then today, my hairdresser who is our little lunch gang… told me of someone, who I also knew, had just passed away. Fingers crossed here… well to be honest if I can cross it I will. 😀 😀 😀

Finally, I’ve finished the image, that I started a couple of weeks back, for this week’s Mid-Week Monochrome Challenge.

A photograph of a man and his dog walking through one of the side streets in Hereford

Hereford is a beautiful city with its own cathedral… with the river Wye, not far from the cathedral and it runs through city but is well-known to flood at times.

In addition to beautiful ancient architecture and lovely green spaces, it also has quaint side streets.

The scene I am sharing here is from a side-street in Hereford. With a person walking with their dog.

Despite it originally being a colour photograph I thought it also works as a monochrome with very interesting shades.

I am looking forward to seeing your monochrome pictures for this week’s challenge.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

    1. Anne it didn’t look good for my MIL at the beginning, and then seeing her deteriorate through the following week, we were expecting it… but my friend was a pure shock. Mind you the other person wasn’t that close he was the ex of another friend, so it wasn’t much of a shock. I think LAPC seemed to help in a way… It was something I had promised to do, and it took my mind off of things for a while.

  5. Bren, may you be comforted in the loss of your MIL along with your two friends. Love, hugs, and prayers. Your photo has so much interest in it and black and white works so well.

        1. I know when we went to Alcatraz it was choppy and cold. But the life jackets were mainly on the outside… Naturally I just froze to death and sat beside them. 😀 😀 😀

  9. Sorry for your loss, Bren. I hope that was it for a long while.
I was a bit surprised your title, my focus was on the bunting (we have similar decorations in our town when the festival is on). But somebody walking away illustrated your mood, maybe. And with a beloved friend on his side.
    I stuck with a watery theme: https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2023/02/22/i-used-to-be-an-ugly-duckling/
Since I post a monochrome every Wednesday, I think I add a link to the one from last week as well: https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2023/02/15/cormorant-doing-the-butterfly/

    1. Thank you so much for joining in… two bird pictures… I am in awe of anyone that can capture a bird shot. Swans I am ok with, but if they are in flight… you get a very, very blurred bird. 😀 😀 😀 😀

      1. The cormorant made it easy. He was swimming and then dipping. Several times, so I had time to focus. Yesterday I did catch a few cormorants flying low over the lake (I didn’t know there were so many on our lake, it must mean there are a lot of fish) but they were far away.

        1. I love watching birds in flight. We have some starlings around here and how they don’t collide with each other I don’t know!

          1. Totally true. Flock of birds (also fish shoals) are amazing.

  12. Sorry for your family loss and for the friends that have departed too – I hope the crossed fingers work and that brings an end to it. I like your street view very much – I can feel the hint of impending rain. No doubt the man and his dog will retreat to one of the local pubs when it arrives😎👍 Here’s my entry – taken yesterday – https://2e0mca.wordpress.com/2023/02/23/mid-week-monochrome-122/
