Fountains Abbey and the River Skell

Sometimes, you just can’t get the right sky for the picture. Unfortunately, having to work in real-life our photography jaunts are when we can fit it in at weekends. Except for our holidays.

We were doing a Warner’s holiday, back in 2018. And we got a terrific deal. However, those holidays are either 3 nights or 4 nights. If you want a whole week, I’m not sure how you go about it.

Nidd Hall was beautiful and perfect… and our room was exceptional for what we paid.

But now looking back… and with so many beautiful places to visit in North Yorkshire; in hindsight I do wish we had stayed for a whole week.

On one of our days, we visited Fountains Abbey. Unfortunately, it was a dull day at times, and when I shot the image below it was overcast with a bland sky. However, the day did improve as we walked around the grounds. So, for the image below I added a sky via ON1 Photo RAW 2023.

  1. You’ve got some great views here,a nice mixture of the must-see and the less noticed. I’m at Studley Royal in my post today, a walk I can guarantee you don’t know, as it was a first for me, after eight years of walking there.
