Across the pond

From as way back as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to go to America. My flight of fancy, was just a pipe dream. I never wanted to do Disney. I wanted to see San Francisco, I wanted to see cable, cars, the hills of San Francisco.

My flight of fancy became reality back in May 2015. We toured the West Coast. Our trip started in San Francisco.

San Francisco

And I was in complete awe when we visited the Palace of Fine Arts. The architecture was out of this world. A friend of mine from Facebook, told me to visit the Palace of Fine Arts, she told me it was spectacular and boy it sure was.

Yosemite

After spending three nights in San Francisco, we headed to Merced where we then travelled on to Yosemite.

These are two of the places, that I wanted to see so much…. But our journey didn’t end just there we also took in the sights of Las Vegas, Los Angeles, the Grand Canyon, and spent a night on the Queen Mary at Long Beach.

My flight of fantasy, which was just a pipe dream… turned into reality 7 years ago, when we landed at San Francisco International Airport.

  3. Love to see the US through the eyes of visitors Bren. These are wonderful. I too love the Palace of Fine Arts but you’re fortunate to have a friend recommend it as most visitors miss it. your images of it are beautiful. And I love the perspective from which you took the golden gate bridge, don’t think I’ve ever seen it shown that way. Terrific choice for the week.

  5. As always, excellent photography. I truly love that opening photo. The tall ship captured my attention, but the other historic ships drew me into the image.
I’m sure the memories and photographs of your flight of fancy will be with you forever.

    1. Thank you xx Yes… I just want to go back… but lately I’ve heard that San Francisco isn’t as safe as it used to be. Next time we save enough, we might go to the East Coast.

      1. San Francisco has its challenges, for sure. We visited about a year ago and were warned about some of the things to watch out for.

    1. Thank you Patti… oh, thanks for that Patti. We had hoped to go in a couple of years… but that looks like it is being postponed due to the cost-of-living increase, along with extortionate gas, electric, food and fuel prices along with the rising interest rates.

      1. It is difficult to save money now with all the increases in the cost of living. We’ll be ready with suggestions when you’re ready!
