This week Ann-Christine in her Lens-Artists challenge, has set the topic as favourite flowers. Well, as I love photographing flowers I am in my element. However, I have to say, when it comes to gardening and growing flowers… I’m a complete failure… I am not green-fingered at all.
Roses, roses, and roses, I can never get enough of roses. Like my father roses are one of my favourite flowers. My dad loved red roses, where as I have a tendency to like red and blue roses more… but I just love roses in any colour. You will never find me far from a rose garden, when we visit gardens.
The red rose at the top on the right I’ve actually had printed onto canvas for our lounge wall.
My second lot of favourite flowers are hydrangeas. I have two planted in large tubs in my garden, and I just love how long the blooms last. Mind you, in the heatwave this year, they didn’t last as long as normal. But we’ve had such mild temperatures lately, I’ve seen one of theme, actually starting to bloom again. Which is highly unusual.
Dahlias are another favourite of mine… again, they were one of my dad’s favourite flowers. However, I have found with dahlias you do get a lot of earwigs.
My last group of favourite flowers has to be spring flowers. I don’t know what it is but when spring arrives and the daffodils and tulips start to appear, I have to say that is when we finally know that winter has been and done.
Many thanks to the people behind the Len-Artists photography Challenge, for all they do in bringing this wonderful challenge, especially Ann-Christine for her flower challenge this week, as flowers are one of the things I just love to photograph.
