Rest-a-While

Suffering from Fibromyalgia and PMR impacts your daily life…. I look normal, I talk normal. In fact, to look at me, nobody would ever think there was anything wrong with me. But boy does Fibro affect your body. You go to bed tired; you wake up tired. You don’t go anywhere without your pain-killers. Some days, you ache so much you just don’t have the energy to move.

That is why we visit a lot of National Trust places, and formal gardens, because they tend to have many benches, small walls, where you can rest a while.

A monochrome photograph of one of the many benches at Wakehurst Place.

Camera: Canon EOS 600D
Lens: Canon EF50mm f/1.8 II
F/Number: f/3.2
ISO: 100
Focal Distance: 50 mm

Shutter Speed: 1/80 sec
Photograph Date: 27.06.2015
Photographer: Bren
Software: Adobe Lightroom Classic

And when you visit places as vast as Wakehurst Place is, believe me, you welcome those benches. And what I love about a lot of the benches not just at Wakehurst, but other places, is there memory badges.

Have a great weekend everyone.

  1. I need benches too. I have longterm Lyme with arthritis and neuropathy and now recovering from a broken hip.

    1. Oh no Sherry… Take care and here’s wishing you a speedy recovery.

Hip pain is debilitating, I’ve had to have both of mine replaced due to arthritis. I have it in my hands now… the number of things I drop … thinking I’ve got hold of it and then my hands give out. And 9 times out of 10 they land on my feet.

        1. Luckily, if I pace myself with typing and don’t type much, I’m OK. I’ve found I’ve created a lot of Presets in Lightroom so it is just one or two clicks, so that helps.

          2. Yep, I watch Blake Rudis now and then. I’ve watched a lot of Matt Kloskowski because he is Lightroom orientated.

          3. Me too – love Matt. But to take it to the next level only Photoshop will do.

          6. I really should venture more into Photoshop. I do have Greg Benz’s Lumenzia and Jimmy McIntyre’s Raya Pro

          7. I had those but found them hard to use. Blake’s tools are easier to use and faster. He thing explains better. I only use his now.

  2. I can so relate to this. I have mast cell disease and it brings crushing fatigue. When I can get out, I always seek nature walks with benches. Your photos are just lovely and brighten my feed! 💛

    1. Yes, that is all you can do… is enjoy things when you can. The tiredness I find gives me brain fog… the things I do… 😀 😀 😀 is no man’s business. Putting things in wrong places and then searching for hours looking for them.

      1. Oh my yes. The brain fog is the worst. I feel like I have dementia some days and when it lifts it’s like wow! I can think again! Urrgggh lol.

        1. I was due the other day to go to the station and pick hubby up… I spent ages looking for the key card, then I found it in the salad drawer of the fridge. Why I put in there I don’t know… thank God I had the spare to use to get him.

  4. I am dealing with osteo arthritis and find I have to drink a lot of water, do light low impact activities, and diet is critical. Everyone’s unique. I focus on plenty of low glycemic fruits, veg, and nutrition that includes high quality antioxidant supplements, omegas and other beneficial supportive nutritionals. Learn more on my website and shop at https://www.upstreamdream.Usana.com Creative outlets are SO essential too, which is why I SO enjoy your inspiring photography, Bren! Be well and blessed!

    1. Thank you for the link…I’ll take a look. The trouble I have is the PMR inflames my muscles… So the more I exercise I do the more inflammation I get. It’s like va vicious circle.. And then if they give me the steroids for the PMR my blood sugar goes wild.. but I’ll try the supplements I do take multi vitamins .

      1. Yes, I understand that as I have had some similar issues. With Usana, I recommend Proflavanol 100, and Biomega, D3 and Magnecal D3. I hear that Brown Seaweed is very good for inflammatory responses. These are supposed to work quite quickly and I am looking into brands and quality manufacturing and sourcing for this since Usana doesn’t have this product. Wishing you all the best in your healing journey, Bren.
