Going through your archive of images can give you some surprises… like the image above. Thinking about the celebrations next weekend for the Queen’s Jubilee when beacons will be lit across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, I stumbled across a very old image of a beacon at Dawlish Water. I can just imagine this beacon being lit next Thursday at 9.45 pm. I just wish I could be there to photograph it.
The Park at Dawlish Water is tranquil. With wildlife in abundance… White and Black Swans, ducks and many other species of birds gather in the waters. There are gardens and benches to sit upon… It is a beautiful spot.
I can remember as a child visiting this place, but I couldn’t think of the name of the place we had visited. Anyway, on our annual holiday in 2011, before we even took up photography, we decided to drive into Dawlish. And I was pleasantly surprised to find this is place that I remember so fondly as a child. Nothing seemed to change.
Childhood memories are so special… times with parents now departed. When you didn’t have a care in the world. How I am pleased to know the location now of this beauty spot. And I will be visiting again when we go down to Devon.

What a great shot! While there’s a lot going on, it’s not overcrowded and the composition just makes sense! 🙂
