The above image was photographed at Lynmouth on a grey day… so, I thought I would give the image a Sky Replacement in Photoshop.
Once I did that edit, I returned to Lightroom where I wanted to give slight warmth from the yellowy clouds down into the boats. Now I could’ve used a brush and painted but I wanted the effect to be small at the clouds and larger on the boats.

So to do this.. I used the brush tool with a small brush at the top and then went to the bottom of image and increased the size of the brush using the scroll wheel on my mouse and then used Shift+Click. As you can see you get a nice flare and then you can use the sliders to create your effect.
For my image above I used two of these edits.

I do hope this little tip helps you… it is great for lighting up street lamps in an image… or just creating light in one specific area.
