As we were driving through Cooling/Cliffe near Rochester one day along the country lanes we stumbled across this old barn… even in its dilapidated state, I just couldn’t resist taking a photograph. Simply because the old door was hanging in there despite everything falling apart around it. And I thought it would be an ideal candidate for posting as part of Dan’s Thursday Doors Photography Challenge.

  2. Gorgeous. The Sepia gives it a timeless feel.

It reminds e of a scene from ‘The Thirteenth Tale’ by Diane Setterfield. book by Diane Setterfield.

I wanted to give it 5 stars, but couldn’t vote.

  3. That is a wonderful photograph. The door may end up being the only element standing. The barn is in very tough shape, but there is a certain charm to it. It’s like it’s working to blend in (or it’s being consumed by) its surrounding.

    Very well done.

  6. In sepia it has almost an ominous look or could. It’s a beautiful dilapidated barn, but there’s something about barns that are falling apart that makes me a bit sad.

    1. Me too… derelict barns are very photogenic but to see them fall to beyond repair is sad..
