I have seen numerous photographs across the internet of motion blur. I am beginning to quite like this effect. So I thought I’d give it a go.

For the above shot. I just sent the image into Photoshop from Lightroom. Then once in Photoshop, I duplicated the layer.
Then I added a motion blur filter with the following settings
Only the distance I used was 128.
For this image.

For the above image, I used the motion blur filter twice. Once at a setting of 128 and then again at 145.
On both images, I removed the blur from the bottom section of the image by adding a layer mask and then using a gradient filter to mask out the area where I didn’t want the blur effect.
Using the above techniques to me, makes images appear to have more of an abstract feel. Which again perfectly fits into this week’s Lens-Artists challenge set by Patti called Abstract.

Very interesting Bren – I do my motion blurs in camera. Didn’t realize there was a filter in P/S to do the same thing. You’ve created some terrific abstracts!
