Finding my passion for Floral Photography

As you know, by reading this blog, we are primarily landscape, architectural and floral amateur photographers.  However, over the last month, I have been participating a lot in Cee’s Flower of the Day and Becky’s Square September – In the Pink.  Unfortunately, Becky’s Square September is coming to a close, but what I have found, through doing these challenges, is that I have grown a passion for floral photography.

Working with floral photography and being able to combine the two challenges together with one image, has had me scouring my archives for photographs of pink flowers.

Over this last month, I have learnt my passion is for floral photography.  As much, much as I love doing landscapes, interior and architectural photography, floral photography is what I love most with regards to photographing as well as processing.

Here in the UK, we are in our fall season.  And it won’t be long before winter sets in.  But because it is winter it doesn’t mean I have to stop doing floral photography.  There are leaves, there are winter flowers,  and a couple of trips to my garden centre with my mobile camera will keep me in an abundance of winter floral images.

So thank you to Cee and Becky for helping me find my passion.  If it wasn’t for these two great photographer’s I don’t think I would have found my forte in photography.  Naturally, I will still do landscape photography, but it will be floral photography that I will concentrate on more.

I will leave you with a selection of floral images I’ve processed, not just during September but throughout my photographic journey.

Have a good day everyone!

  4. Really beautiful images but, if you don’t mind my saying so, I think you really detract from them by having the captions within the frames. With images as good as these, there should be nothing else in the frame, in my view. Adrian

    1. Thank you very much for your comment… I had never thought that the captions are being a distraction from the images. Thank you for pointing it out.. I will take your advice on board and remove the captions and not add them to any other images. Have a great day xx

  8. Amazing click. But photography is worth it only if we save it in our memories.

  9. Woow you’re so talented. What did you use to make the pink rose (6th photo) so soft, if not a secret? 😊

    1. Thank you for your lovely comment… I just used a graduated filter in Lightroom that reduced the clarity. And a lot of radial filters..with increased exposure.

    2. Hi Feministka, I have done a post showing how I achieve the effect https://ryanphotography.uk/2018/11/05/flower-of-the-day-5th-november-2018-how-to-achieve-softness/

Unfortunately, I had deleted the Lightroom History on the image you liked but the principle was exactly the same, except I use more exposure in places .
