One of my favourite places to visit is Hatchet Pond when I am in the New Forest. Hatchet Pond which is not far from Beaulieu is a haven for wildlife.. dog walkers as well as a lovely picnic area. Ponies, dogs, wildlife, and a scenic view.. my idea of heaven.
There is a car park at the location. Just a minute’s walk from the car park and you are at Hatchet Pond.

Whilst we were there, relaxing and taking in the view, a herd of ponies arrived a) to find out if there was food and b) to have a drink from the pond.

I was lucky to be able to capture this beautiful pony from both sides. And he wasn’t perplexed about us humans at all. Yes, the pony just carried on with their business and didn’t batter an eyelid at us mere mortals within their presence. As we sat there a herd of cows strolled up the road and headed for the pond. Unfortunately, they were the other side of where we were sitting, just out of photographic view. Oh boy, on their way to Hatchet Pond did they create a tailback of traffic. 😀 😀

So if you are ever in the New Forest.. check out Hatchet Pond… you will definitely get that pony snap you longed for.
And I was there at the right time in the right place to see these beautiful ponies.
