Here I am playing catch-up with the WordPress Photo Challenges and last week’s challenge was called Weathered. And I was thinking what image could I use to show how things weather when left to the elements of wind, rain, sun and age.
So the image I decided to use was one we took whilst we went on a Great Rail Journey through the Gold Coast of America. And on one of our days travelling, heading away from Las Vegas, we stopped at a Place called Hackberry on Route 66 as we headed for Williams. Hackberry went from a thriving town to a ghost town, almost overnight, when the new interstate opened and by-passed the town itself. It was like a little of ghost town, which is now a tourist stop off point.
The town is quaint and along side of the road was this old classic car.. which of course everyone stopped to photograph. Throughout the years it has weathered well as have the wooden garage that it stood in. If you are ever travelling to Las Vegas a detour off of the main interstate to Hackberry is highly recommended.
My apologies for such a short post… but as I said I am playing catch-up and I really do need to work harder on this blog as well as getting back out there, photographing the beautiful landscapes in and around the South East of England.
